Quick answer: if you bought the drone on its own, start with two extra batteries and the two-way charging hub, or go straight for the Fly More Combo. Then add a fast microSD card, ND filters for video and a hard case. The 360° propeller guard only pays off if you fly near people or in tight spaces.

If you have not bought the drone yet, the Fly More Combo usually works out cheaper than buying batteries, hub and filters separately. Still choosing a model? See our DJI Mini 5 Pro vs Mini 4 Pro comparison.
1. Extra Intelligent Flight Batteries
This is the single most important accessory. Each standard battery gives up to 36 minutes of flight in ideal conditions; in real life, with wind and landing with a safety margin, expect a bit less.
With three batteries you get well over an hour and a half of flying per outing, enough for a full photo session or a day of travel. With just one, every flight becomes a race against the clock.

- Triple your flying time per outing
- Keep the drone under 250 g
- Charge neatly in the hub
- The most expensive accessory
- Need careful handling on flights

DJI also offers a higher-capacity Intelligent Flight Battery Plus for longer flights. The catch is weight: with it fitted, the Mini 5 Pro goes over 250 g and different requirements apply in the UK and Europe. It only makes sense if you already meet those requirements and value endurance over the simplest rules.
2. Two-way charging hub
The Two-Way Charging Hub charges up to three batteries one after another, starting with the one that has the most charge, so you always have one ready as soon as possible. It also doubles as a power bank for your phone or controller in the field.
- Charges in sequence automatically
- Works as a power bank
- Keeps batteries organised for transport
- Needs a powerful charger to be fast

The drone records 4K at high frame rates, and a slow card causes dropped frames or stopped recordings. Choose a V30-rated or faster microSD card in 128 GB or 256 GB.
Always carry a second card in the bag: if one fails or fills up mid-trip, you do not lose the day.
4. ND filters
Neutral density filters cut the light reaching the camera. They let you shoot video at a slower shutter speed on sunny days for smoother, more natural motion without that choppy look.
DJI sells an official ND8, ND32 and ND128 set, which already comes in the Fly More Combo. Third-party sets combining ND and polariser are useful over water or reflective surfaces. New to aerial video? Our guide to drone photography and video will help.

- Smoother, more natural video
- Light official set made to fit
- Essential in bright sun
- Need swapping as light changes
- Less useful if you only shoot stills
5. Hard case
The Fly More Combo includes a soft shoulder bag, comfortable day to day but not much protection against knocks. If you fly with the drone or carry it in a backpack with other gear, a hard case with slots for the drone, controller and batteries prevents nasty surprises.
6. High-power USB-C charger
To charge the hub, controller and phone at once, a powerful USB-C charger helps. DJI sells a 100 W adapter and a 65 W car charger, handy on road trips between flights.
7. Spare propellers
A nicked or bent propeller vibrates, gets noisy and can affect stability. The Fly More Combo includes extra pairs, but if you fly a lot it is worth having more. Check the props before every flight and replace them at the first sign of damage.
8. 360° propeller guard
DJI makes a quick-release 360° propeller guard with integrated propellers. It adds weight and some wind resistance, but protects people and the drone itself on close-in or indoor flights.
- Much safer near people
- Protects the drone in tight spaces
- Extra weight and slightly shorter flights
- Handles wind less well
9. Landing pad
Taking off from long grass, sand or loose soil throws up debris that ends up in the motors and camera. A folding pad of around 50-80 cm gives you a clean, visible spot to take off and land.
10. DJI Care Refresh
This is DJI’s protection plan: it lets you replace the drone at a reduced cost after an accident, including water damage, within the plan’s terms. It comes in one-year and two-year versions.
It is not liability insurance: it covers your drone, not damage you cause to others.

Before your first flight in the UK
Accessories will not help if the paperwork is missing. Since 1 January 2026, anyone flying a drone of 100 g or more in the UK needs a free Flyer ID, and a camera drone like the Mini 5 Pro also needs an Operator ID displayed on the aircraft. Both are obtained online from the CAA.
Keep the drone in sight, stay at or below 120 metres and check the airspace before every flight. Our step-by-step guide on how to fly a drone covers the basics.
Accessories you can skip
- Third-party wide-angle lenses: they add weight and tend to soften the corners.
- Coloured LED lights: only worth it if you will fly at night within the rules.
- Very cheap all-in-one kits: usually full of low-quality bits you will never use.
- Phone holders for the controller if you already use the DJI RC 2 with its built-in screen.
For other models, our guide to the best drone accessories has more options.
Common mistakes when buying accessories
- Buying third-party batteries: they do not talk to the drone in the same way and can pose safety risks.
- Fitting the Battery Plus without checking the rules: the drone is no longer under 250 g.
- Using a slow microSD card and finding the dropped frames back home.
- Storing batteries at 100% for weeks: store them at medium charge instead.
Which accessories should you buy?
- You bought the drone alone: two batteries, the charging hub and a fast microSD card.
- You already have the Fly More Combo: fast microSD, hard case and a powerful charger.
- You shoot serious video: extra ND/PL filters and a second card.
- You travel a lot: hard case, car charger and DJI Care Refresh.
- You fly near people or indoors: the 360° propeller guard.
Frequently asked questions
The DJI RC 2 version includes three batteries, the two-way charging hub, a shoulder bag, spare propellers, a USB-C cable and the ND8/32/128 filter set.
No. The Battery Plus takes the weight over 250 g, and different requirements apply.
A fast V30-rated or better card of 128 GB or 256 GB, so you can record high-frame-rate 4K without dropped frames.
Yes, if you shoot video in bright light. They let you lower the shutter speed for more natural motion. For stills they matter less.
It is not liability insurance. It covers replacing your own drone after an accident, but not damage you cause to third parties.
